Interim Provost
Dr. Chris Evans has devoted two decades to the apostolate of Catholic higher education, serving as professor, scholar, and university leader. His journey has carried him through roles of growing responsibility — from Department Chair of Theology to Associate Dean, from Dean of Arts & Sciences to Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. Today, he serves as Interim Provost at The Catholic University of America. A scholar at heart, Dr. Evans explores the early scholastic theology of the twelfth century, with expertise in Victorine theology, Christology, medieval Latin paleography, and textual criticism. In leadership, he brings a steady vision and a deep fidelity to the mission of Catholic higher education, guided by the principles of Ex Corde Ecclesiae. At Catholic University, he drives initiatives that strengthen enrollment, advance the academic mission, and ensure financial sustainability. He also oversees the University’s online initiatives and serves as accreditation liaison officer with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
